Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corporation recently unveiled the Microsoft Amalga Family of Health Enterprise Systems, a new lineup of health information system solutions spanning clinical, operational and financial functions.

The newly acquired family of products includes Amalga, a unified intelligence system, along with Amalga Hospital Information System (HIS) and Amalga RIS/PACS.

Amalga is now live at MedStar Health, a community-based network of eight hospitals and other healthcare services in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area. The beta of the new version of the system is available at six other facilities.
