After reviewing theNQF's release about standards, I thought I'd get some clarification from the King of all Standards, Mr. John Halamka:

Hi John,

Would you be interesting in writing a few graphs about the news release below for our readers. I don’t see any mention of HITSP being involved and was wondering if they are competing or complementary initiatives. I was thinking of some opinion-type thing in which you would tell our readers what this means and how much they should sit up and take notice.

If so, I’ll put it up as a blog posting by you.

Thanks,
Anthony

Sure.

NQF worked with many stakeholders to choose consistent measurement of Healthcare IT adoption,
not standards for exchange of data, which is HITSP's focus. NQF and HITSP work very well together and the NQF Healthcare Information Technology Expert Panel (HITEP) provided the basis for much of the work on data exchange for quality measure that HITSP recently completed.

I hope this clears up any confusion about NQF's press release.
