New research from the Orem, Utah-based KLAS indicates that provider pressures to meet meaningful use and ICD-10 regulatory requirements while also cutting costs have driven growth of the revenue cycle services (RCS) market. AMA Supports Clinically Appropriate Use of Next-Generation Genome Sequencing

Chicago-based physician advocacy group, the American Medical Association (AMA) had a policy-making meeting this week and recognized the ability to integrate next-generation genome sequencing technologies into a clinical setting. The AMA said it supports “regulatory policy that protects patient rights and confidentiality, and enables physicians to access and use such diagnostic tools as clinically appropriate.”

In announcing a final rule on administration simplification around the establishment of a unique health plan identifier, the Department of Health and Human Services on Aug. 24 also confirmed the shift to Oct. 1, 2014 of the required date of compliance with the transition to the new ICD-10 coding system.

Survey: Healthcare Finance Execs say ACOs are Top Priority

According to a survey conducted by Firstsource Solutions USA (Louisville, Ky.), a revenue cycle solution provider, healthcare finance executives are placing a renewed focus on developing accountable care organization (ACO) partnerships after the Supreme Court upheld President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. The survey, of 100 professionals in the healthcare finance industry, found that close to half (49 percent) of respondents said developing accountable-care partnerships should be the top priority for providers.
