We were presenting our final report for an IT Assessment to a chain of religious hospitals last year. Great group of people - just doing super in almost every aspect of IT to where it was hard for us to come up with suggestions for improvement.
One of the few weak spots was disaster recovery, where we felt they should receive a little more funding from Administration for a true "hot site" to get there EMR/CPOE back on-line quickly in the event of a fire, flood, etc.
When we presented this critique to the assembled IT team, there was silence and a bit of squirming in seats as they digested the risk and potential loss if these key clinical systems went down.
Then, a manager in the back of the room spoke up: "But we are a faith-based organization, right?"
