Pittsburgh-based Aethon is introducing a new navigational system for its TUG, an autonomous mobile robot that roams throughout hospitals delivering goods and supplies.

The upgraded navigational system is designed to reduce installation time for TUG deployments and increase the robot’s speed and accuracy in maneuvering hospital interiors, according to the company.

Currently in use in more than 100 hospitals and being actively installed in more than 20 facilities, TUGs work to automate supply chain operations, helping to improve pharmacy, laundry, dietary, laboratory and other hospital functions.
