The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) and the MITRE Corporation (McLean, Va.) have formed a collaborative relationship in an effort to build a testing resource to evaluate compliance of electronic health records (EHRs) and networks with certification criteria for interoperability.

According to the CCHIT, this new initiative is designed to make it easier for health information technology companies to add standards-based information exchange capabilities to their products and prepare those products for certification.

The first focus of the project is expected to be a tool to verify standards compliance of a Continuity of Care Document (CCD) sent or received by EHRs, says the Chicago-based organization.

The Health IT Summits gather 250+ healthcare leaders in cities across the U.S. to present important new insights, collaborate on ideas, and to have a little fun - Find a Summit Near You!
