The Chicago-based Allscripts has attested that, through a partnership with Drummond Group LLC, it has developed a solution that is certified to enable clinicians to meet the requirements of the meaningful use program as well as the Quality Payment Program.
According to officials, the solution provides all eligible clinicians the relevant workflows and technology they need to meet meaningful use Stage and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) requirements. Through its partnership with Drummond Group, a client-focused test lab and certification body, the newest version of Professional EHR is now certified for modified meaningful use Stage 2, meaningful use Stage 3, Advancing Care Information (ACI) and ACI transition requirements. The certification is reflected on the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-HIT) Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL), officials said.
The timing is particularly noteworthy, as many industry stakeholders have pushed federal officials to slow down the certification timeline that requires providers to use 2015 edition certified EHRs by Jan. 1, 2018. Very recently, in a letter to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tom Price, the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) indeed recommended delaying the start date that requires providers to use 2015 edition certified EHRs by six months, as the organization is concerned about the implementation timeline for the 2015 Edition Health IT Certification Criteria.
In the letter, HIMSS recommended moving the start date to July 1, 2018, rather than January 1, 2018, to “increase the likelihood that providers, vendors, and consultants have the necessary time to ensure products complete the certification process, are fully tested and implemented, and staff training and workflow adjustments are achieved to ensure safe, effective and efficient implementation and use of the 2015 Edition.”
