King's Daughters MC Establishes Rapid Response Teams

King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC, Ashland, Ky.) is leveraging the Bethesda, Md.-based GetWellNetwork PatientLife System to enable patients and their families to activate the hospital’s Assessment Consultation Team (ACT) of nurses who are trained to respond to changes in the patient’s condition, says the company.

This initiative, says the company, is in response to The Joint Commission’s (Oakwood Terrace, Ill.) National Patient Safety Goal 16, which requires hospitals to establish a method to enable staff members to directly request additional assistance from a specially trained individual or Rapid Response Team when a patient’s condition appears to be worsening.

KDMC is a locally controlled, not-for-profit, 385-bed regional referral center, covering a 150-mile radius that includes southern Ohio, eastern Kentucky and western West Virginia.
