Veteran chief information officer Marc Milstein has returned to healthcare from higher education by joining academic medical center UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as vice president of information resources and CIO.
UT Southwestern said that Milstein would report directly to Arnim Dontes, executive vice president for business affairs, Milstein is charged with creating greater efficiencies and value by integrating Information Resources with Business Affairs. He will have accountability and oversight for UTSW’s academic, health system, and administrative information resources as well as all central infrastructure, systems, and client services operations.
Milstein’s 35-year career in technology and data science includes 27 years of executive-level experience. He most recently served as associate vice chancellor and CIO for the University of Texas System, with responsibilities that included planning and implementing UT system-wide IT systems and projects that support academic, research, and administrative operations. He also led teams that enabled UT to develop and build new technology and intellectual property initiatives.
Prior to joining the UT System in 2014, he was the vice president for information technology and CIO for Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where he was the senior executive responsible for information services across four campuses. Previous experience includes CIO positions with Continuum Health Partners, University of Missouri Health Care, and the Cambridge Health Alliance. He also worked at Children’s Medical Center Dallas as vice president of information services.
