Norris Cochran has been tapped to serve as Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) following the departure of former HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell as part of the ongoing Trump Administration transition.
Cochran also is the HHS deputy assistant secretary for budget and he joined the federal service in 1996 at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta and he entered the senior executive service when joining HHS in 2006.
Robinsue Frohboese will now become Acting Director of HHS’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) following the departure of former OCR chief Jocelyn Samuels. Frohboese joined OCR in 2000 as the principal deputy director and, during her tenure with OCR, has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Acting OCR Director during two Administration transitions.
