Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance Communications Inc. is acquiring Dallas-based Vocada Inc., a provider of critical test result management (CTRM) solutions.

According to Nuance, the deal will allow it to broaden the capabilities of its Dictaphone Healthcare solutions; extend the company's domain expertise within diagnostic specialties (including radiology, lab, pathology and cardiology); accelerate revenue growth; and help organizations comply with mandates regarding the communication of critical test results.

Vocada's technology will serve as an extension to PowerScribe, the Dictaphone Healthcare radiology and pathology solution, Nuance stated.
