Upon Cerner's acquisition of Siemens Health Services in 2015, existing Siemens CEO John Glaser announced in a Nov. 17 blog post that he will join Cerner as a as a senior vice president.
According to the post, Glaser said that in his new role, he will be focused on driving technology and product strategies, interoperability, and government policy development. Speaking about the merger, he said, “There are many reasons Cerner’s acquisition of Health Services makes sense. At its center, is the combined strengths of both organizations, which will enable major strides in the ability of the HIT industry to deliver on its promises. When final, the acquisition also will result in a greater scale in resources to drive innovation, and bring to market a more complete core of product and service offerings – leveraging the best of each organization’s portfolio.”
On an earnings call last month, Cerner said it expects its deal with Siemens to close in early 2015.
Glaser added that he has dedicated his career to health IT, and “delivering on its potential for the betterment of health care has been a singular focus for me and for Health Services. And, it’s Cerner’s singular focus as well. I’ve talked with many clients about this acquisition and they also feel the personal and professional focus. It’s validating to hear that our clients are optimistic and recognize the value in our teams coming together.”
