The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has selected Los Gatos, Calif.-based TriCipher's authentication solution to protect access to personal health information on its online patient healthcare portal and physician network.
According to TriCipher, it provides a two-factor authentication solution, with ability to customize credentials for users based on the level of security required. Users connecting to the UPMC portal can automatically validate their identity via TriCipher's public-key infrastructure (PKI)-based credential, contends the company.
Its authentication system protects users with passwords, browser cookies and certificates, PCs, portable devices such as USB drives and iPods, tokens, smart cards and biometrics, says TriCipher.
