One-on-One with LRHC CIO Jamie Welch

Jamie Welch is CIO of the Louisiana Rural Hospital Coalition, linking 24 northern Louisiana community providers with Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Its goal is to make member hospitals the “medical home” for all members of the community. Grant-funded, it's already changing the way care is delivered in the poorest counties in the state. HCI editor Daphne Lawrence had the opportunity to talk with Welch about how the RHIO was set up and how it will sustain itself.

Saint Clare's Health System—with four northwestern New Jersey hospital campuses—is one of the largest employers in the area, with 3,500 total employees, over 700 volunteers and a medical staff of over 700. In April, the system began a major transition, as it was acquired by Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), the nation's second largest Catholic health system. HCI Editor-in-Chief Anthony Guerra had a chance to chat with CIO Richard Temple about how the transfer will affect IT.

One-on-One with Atlantic Health CIO Linda Reed

Atlantic Health is a New Jersey-based care delivery system comprised of Morristown Memorial Hospital, Overlook Hospital, Goryeb Children's Hospital, Gagnon Heart Hospital, Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, and Atlantic Neuroscience Institute. With thousands of beds under her purview, system vice president and CIO Linda Reed has quite a bit on her plate. She spoke with HCI about her plans for the health system, and the evolving role of the CIO.

One-on-One with SLVR Medical Center CIO Spencer Hamons

San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center (SLVRMC) - located in South Central Colorado - is an 85-bed facility, operating a level III trauma center, with valley-wide ambulance service. The organization is the largest medical facility in the valley, and works closely with two large clinics; one dedicated to specialists and the other to family practice and outreach. Recently, HCI had a chance to talk with CIO Spencer Hamons about what it takes to be an effective IT leader.
