A Scheduling Solution

I need a mammogram. I’ve been putting it off for a year and a half. Nothing’s wrong, but it’s time. The thing is, along with that exam, I also need to schedule one with the ophthalmologist, dentist, dermatologist and meet my new internist and have a couple of blood tests and a tetanus shot. And as if scheduling and coordinating these appointments wasn’t tricky enough, I have a toddler and a full time job so time is seriously at a premium. If only there was a scheduling system that would take the pain out of coordinating appointments. There is. Think about it: I have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow meeting. I blocked out the time on my electronic calendar, reserved a conference room, and e-mailed invitations to attendees. Why can’t I use this for everything? Imagine how much easier life would be if it weren’t a handful of practices that had patient scheduling, but all of them? Envision a world where patients were able to request appointments and move around exams so that they not only fit the clinicians’ schedules, but the patients’ as well? I know, I know. I’m just dreaming.
