HIMSS Analytics (Chicago), a healthcare information technology market research firm that is a subsidiary of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), recently published a white paper entitled, Stage 6 Hospitals: The Journey and the Accomplishments.
According to HIMSS, stage 6 is a classification given to hospitals that have successfully implemented information technologies across a multitude of systems, including the electronic medical record (EMR), to improve quality outcomes, patient safety and planning for future business changes.
The following six hospitals were given Stage 6 designation:
Â· Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, La.
Â· Newport Hospital, Newport, R.I.
Â· Clarian North Medical Center, Carmel, Ind.
Â· St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh
Â· Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Evanston, Ill.
Â· Memorial Health University Medical Center, Savannah, Ga.
