Schwartz MSL, a PR firm with focuses in health IT, surveyed likely attendees of the HIMSS14 conference next year in Orlando and attempted to unfurl social media’s influence over the event.

The PR firm surveyed health IT influencers who will attend the conference and found that 73 percent  influencers will check social media to gather information about the show before it even starts, and 79 percent will be logging on to social channels throughout the event. Of these social media users at the conference, every single one marked Twitter as the network of preference.

Eighty-four percent of the influencers will cover meaningful use at the show, according to the survey. Eighty percent said they would cover the transition to the ICD-10 code-set and 73 percent will be talking and tweeting about health information exchange, data analytics, and mobile health (mHealth).
