HITSP and EMS Officials Launch Safety Campaign

To help emergency responders expedite the identification of crash victims and the notification of emergency contacts, the Washington-based Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) and the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO, Falls Church, Va.) are embarking on a formal outreach campaign for highway safety stakeholders.

The campaign’s goal is to achieve a reduction in the notification timeframe by establishing a nationwide interoperable system that enables emergency responders to access, at minimum, a name and telephone number for at least one contact person.
